Grant Thornton builds its future on helping dynamic organisations to grow

Grant Thornton has signalled its intent to become the leading business adviser to dynamic organisations around the world. 'An instinct for growth' emerged as the core message of the global accounting firm's annual conference in Los Angeles this week. Partners from over 75 countries agreed an ambitious strategy for 2015, and beyond, that aims to establish Grant Thornton's reputation as business advisers who help their clients unlock the potential for growth.

The approach is a response to increasing client demands for more insightful advice that will support them in their search for sustainable growth.

Ed Nusbaum, chief executive officer, Grant Thornton International, explains, "We asked our clients why they liked working with us, we asked non-clients why they didn't use us and we asked our people what they enjoyed most about working for Grant Thornton and what they wanted our organisation to look like in 2015. Their insights made our future strategy very clear. Our people want to be involved in the most interesting work for the most interesting organisations. Our clients tell us that we are most valuable to them when we apply both our experience and our instinct to their business challenges - over and above our technical competence which they recognise and expect as core to our service.

"And clients and non-clients want access to people with the best ideas and critical thinking that will enable them to grow – strategically, operationally and, ultimately, financially at home or abroad.

"Organisations, from the largest listed multinationals to privately owned family operations, find it almost impossible to distinguish one accountancy firm from another. We wanted to find out what sets us apart from the accountancy crowd. It is a compelling human truth that we all make decisions for both rational and emotional reasons. "An instinct for growth" is our way of recognising the legitimate role for both factors in business decisions – and represents our ambition to galvanise that inherent instinct to the benefit of our clients all over the world. That means it will touch our whole business – from the services we provide, to the way we deliver them, the people we hire and how we talk about Grant Thornton."

Grant Thornton operates globally in over 100 countries offering assurance, tax and advisory services to listed companies, privately held businesses and the public sector.
