Grant Thornton International has made an important addition to its already substantial presence in Latin America with the arrival of Pérez Mejía, Navas, S. A. de C. V. Effective from 1 June 2011, the firm joined the Grant Thornton International organisation.
Pérez Mejía, Navas, S. A. de C. V. has three partners and was founded in 1994 by the current managing partner, Jaime Antonio Pérez, and audit partner, Rosa Elena Navas. It will go to market as Grant Thornton.
The firm has around 55 staff and is based in the capital San Salvador. It is registered with the PCAOB and acts as auditor to a number of multinational clients in El Salvador. Pérez Mejía, Navas provides external audit services and associated fiscal audits, as well as other compliance, tax consulting, due diligence and tax litigation support services. It ranks sixth in the local market. Managing partner, Jaime Antonio Pérez, explains, "We are a firm that is quality and service driven and believe that the opportunity to join a strong international network like Grant Thornton is very important to the successful growth of our business. Our aim is to achieve at least the number five position in the ranking of audit firms in El Salvador.”
